Now is the time to train the wildlife!

Hey friends.

As we approach the growing season here in the Upper Midwest (we're zone 5b). It's occurred to me that we should be starting to training our local wildlife to stay away from our tasty gardens, be it annuals, such as vegetables, or our perennial beds.

Since deer, rabbit and groundhogs love the tender shoots of tulips, brassicas, lilies, and sometimes new growth on shrubs. We should be teaching them to go elsewhere for food.

It's not always possible to keep them out, minus fencing in your entire yard, but it is possible to deter and train them to eat elsewhere.

One approach I've found the is helpful it using a "liquid" fence, namely Bobbex or Liquid Fence. Both are wonderful alternatives to keeping the critters at bay who want to eat your plants.

A spray, perimeter for vegetables, or foliar spray on flowering annuals/perennials will keep them from snacking on your gardens. Doing this every 3-4 weeks will teach them there is nothing delicious to eat in the area and send them elsewhere for a meal.

Best things about these two products is they are naturally derived.

Be warned the smell is rank until the product dries, but definitely worth it!
